Introduction
Centre for Islamic Management Studies (CIMS),
Singapore in collaboration with SHAPETM offers a comprehensive three
level Islamic finance certification with the aim to produce and nurture Islamic
Finance leaders in Singapore. The
certification, Certified Islamic Finance Analyst (CIFA) is the sole
qualification in Islamic finance with specialized route for one to choose from
mainly Commercial Banking, Investment Banking & Wealth Management.
CIFA is recognised and widely accepted by many financial institutions in equipping the staff with the right knowledge and
skills in Islamic Finance. All modules include discussions of marketing,
accounting, risk management, and contrasts to traditional banking and finance.
With the approach of real market cases and mini-case studies, the qualification
will equip one with practical Sharia’ knowledge and understanding in Islamic
Finance.
The training is flexible and candidates may
choose to pursue the qualification up to the level one finds suitable to their
preference and career requirements. The qualification consists of core and
elective modules that are divided into 3 levels. These are:
Foundation
Level – 4 core and 2 elective
Application
Level - 2 core and 1 elective
Integration
Level – 2 core and 1 elective

Module Delivery &
Examination:
The modules will be introduced by
a SHAPETM certified trainer at CIMS premises and later via the online
learning portal. For the in person training, participants will undergo lectures,
interactive test and games and assessment at the end of the training session.
On the online learning portal, CIFA candidates will be embark on to an average of
10 - 20 hours of learning, mock tests and module test. The
passing mark for the assessment is 80%. Upon passing the assessment, candidate
will be entitled to CIFA Module Certification “Certificate of Completion”,
issued by SHAPETM and CIMS.
To be entitled for the CIFA Level
Certification, candidates are required to attempt and pass the level
examination which will be held at CIMS premises. The level examination will
comprise of 2 hours of MCQ questions based on all the modules that the candidates
have undergone.
Generally, candidates may take
from 2 weeks to 2 months to finish each module depending on the style and speed of
study for each candidate. For each online learning module, candidates will have
12 months of access from the first time login.
