Background
The law that governs the Muslims in Singapore has recently been upgraded with the amendment of the Administration of Muslim Law 1966 (AMLA). The court that administers the Muslim law in Singapore has also been reorganized so that it can serve the Muslim community better. In view of this, the legal fraternity and the public alike in Singapore have much interest to know more about Shari'ah law and its application. In this respect, IIUM's experience in the implementation of Shari'ah law in Malaysia can be shared with its counterparts in Singapore. The Kuliyyah of Laws has conducted the Diploma in Shari'ah Law and Practice programme in Malaysia for more than a decade.
